Term 1, Week 5 2025

Halfway Through the Term!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Watch my video update

We’re already halfway through Term 1, and it’s been fantastic to see students engaged, settled, and thriving in their learning. There’s a lot happening across our classrooms, staffroom, and broader school community, so here’s the latest.

In Our Classrooms

The uptake of our Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) approach has been outstanding. The shift to structured, research-backed teaching is already making a noticeable impact.

Key benefits we’re seeing:

  • Clearer learning pathways: Lessons are broken down into structured steps, helping students build confidence and mastery.
  • Higher engagement: Active participation strategies like choral responses and whiteboard work ensure students are involved in every lesson.
  • More automation of key routines: Helping students transition smoothly between activities and focus on their learning.

Teachers and students have embraced these strategies with enthusiasm, and it’s exciting to see the improvements already unfolding in classrooms.

In Our Staffroom

We’re currently recruiting for our intervention program, which will play an important role in providing targeted support for students who need an extra boost. I expect to announce staffing and program details soon, and this initiative will be key to ensuring every student gets the support they need to thrive.

This program is an essential part of our school’s commitment to equity and excellence, and I look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks.

In Our Community

I’m excited about the expanded coffee cart presence we’re trialing this term. Our regular coffee provider, Stompy (formerly known as Miss Molly’s), will be setting up out the front of the gym, where we’ll also be providing seating for families to enjoy a coffee and connect.

This is all about creating more opportunities for our wonderful community to come together. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or staying for a chat, we hope this makes our school mornings even more welcoming. Stompy’s cart will start with regular Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from Tuesday March 4th

We have our Colour Run / Welcome Picnic this Friday. This is the first of many great PFA events and a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and connect. Thanks to the PFA for their endless hours of work in planning and running this, and other events.

As we continue through the term, I’m looking forward to seeing more great learning, connection, and growth across our school community.

Warm regards,
